is an artist infatuated with the sparkle of paint on glass. After living in 13 different states thoughout her life, she has been proud to call Athens, Georgia her home for the last sixteen years. Her works are featured in shops around town as well as making frequent appearances in various North East Georgia artist events. Ilona is probably best known for her unique and intriguing designs of Christmas ornaments, but she also produces everything from glassware for the bar to nameplates and glass blocks.

As a certified interpreter for the Deaf for over 18 years, her extensive exposure to the spatial qualities of American Sign Language has had an impact on her choice of the thick and transluscent paints she uses to give her works a multi-dimensional quality.

My decision to paint barware coincided with my love of trying new wines. At brunch with friends, as they were adding charms to the glasses so we could tell our Mimosas apart, it struck me that I could paint glasses to match our personalities and abolish the need for charms.

Of course, living in Athens, one cannot escape the University of Georgia Bulldawgs and Ilona is no exception. She loves to put her own interpretations on the local mascot and UGA icons.
